White Day and lots of sympathy
We've gotten used to Valentine's Day. Another holiday in the category of showing affection is White Day. It's an opportunity to repay the person who gave us a Valentine with something equally nice. While it's not yet so widely known in Poland, in Japan products for this day have been promoted in sales for at least a week. (Although, really, what isn't an opportunity to sell here...? Shoppingin Japan awaits its own post 😉) Among these ubiquitous goods, cookies resembling white pieces of cake and rice dough balls, or mochi, reigned supreme, but the most important thing was to decorate them with... strawberries. I regret not taking a picture at one of the first stands with these fruits, but I didn't know back then that it was such a significant phenomenon. Well, there were strawberries in a dozen or so varieties on display, each of them with a description of its properties: sweetness, full flavor, sourness, crunchiness and hardness. And indeed, if you choose those that have a high level of sweetness, they are insanely sweet, and at the same time do not give the impression of a chemically created taste. I know that there are several varieties of strawberries, because Poland is full of strawberries, yet this surprised me.
From time to time I allow myself a treat, which is a mochi ball with a strawberry. Today I gave myself this pleasure, because probably from tomorrow all the goods from White Day will disappear. It does not look fancy, but it is delicious :)

The second sweet is of course the "deer", which live not only in Miyajima, but also in Nara, the former capital, which I visited today. You can buy special crackers prepared for them and feed them. They are also "well-mannered". When they ask people for crackers, they make a gesture with their head that can be taken as a bow, or at least that is what the information for tourists suggests. Below I am posting a few photos, but I also recorded a short film of a deer calling without opening its mouth at all. And what sweet thing happened to you today?
